Hmm, what could be the common element? Hardest working man in show business in 4th position, <a href=\"\/blog\/2019\/08\/music-cory-wong-rhythm-guitar-ace\/\">Cory Wong<\/a>! They&#8217;re all so entertaining to watch, I really should hook up a proper stereo or at least <a href=\"\/blog\/2023\/05\/audio-casually-serious-kef-speakers\/\">active speakers<\/a> or a soundbar to our TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The real find for me is <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_Lettieri\">Mark Lettieri<\/a>&#8216;s solos (on the &#8220;Medium Guitar,&#8221; no less). On &#8220;Bank Account&#8221; 15:09 and &#8220;Magnetar Jam&#8221; 1:11:08 he reminds me of Nile Rodgers&#8217;s post-disco soloing on &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xcbekh8t-mk&amp;pp=ygUMQ2hpYyBTbyBGaW5l\">So Fine<\/a>&#8220;, plus some of Jeff &#8220;Skunk&#8221; Baxter&#8217;s more out-there solos with the Doobie Brothers, e.g. &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/17PmVEPpSWo?si=NlMGf2YGFbwZRRWH&amp;t=118\">Livin&#8217; on the Fault Line<\/a>&#8220;. And the end of the former is a total Chic homage, while the dual drummers recall the Doobies&#8217; Keith Knudsen and John Hartman (RIP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Louis Cole live too!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second drummer joining the Fearless Flyers&#8217; Nate Smith on &#8220;Bank Account&#8221; is the excellent Louis Cole, who has also made some great live videos, especially of the song &#8220;Thinking&#8221; by his group Knower. The &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZMI1iU7VgyI\">Thinking (live sesh)<\/a>&#8221; home recording (literally, musicians playing in the hall, on the stairs, on the outside deck, on top of an oven in the kitchen) is a lot of fun, then he has great orchestrations of the same song with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_AtSzBrW6mo\">Norbotten big band<\/a>, the WDR Big Band (video of the latter has vanished \ud83d\ude22), and other groups.
