I can import by<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adding the <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/blogger-importer\/\">Blogger import plug-in<\/a> to WordPress, which seems to ignore the export and may assume it can access my blog on blogspot.com.<\/li>\n<li>Using the WordPress <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/rss-importer\/\">RSS importer plug-in<\/a> to import the XML file<\/li>\n<li>Using the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogger2wordpress.appspot.com\/\">Blogger2WordPress<\/a> online tool to convert the XML file into WordPress .WXR format, then import that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So much to decide, and most guides on the web are all from 2006 and 2008.<\/p>\n<p>While I puzzle this out I want to keep my old blog URLS working. WordPress let me have <a href=\"http:\/\/codex.wordpress.org\/Using_Permalinks\">Permalinks<\/a> (using <a href=\"http:\/\/httpd.apache.org\/docs\/2.0\/rewrite\/\">Apache mod_rewrite rules<\/a>) for my blog entries that have almost the same structure as Blogger posts, except the link appears as a directory ending in <tt>\/<\/tt>, not a .html file.\u00a0 Since every URL that Blogger produced (not just to posts, but <a href=\"\/blog\/2006_04_01_archive.html\">archives<\/a>, and <a href=\"\/blog\/labels\/Volkl.html\">labels<\/a>) ends in <tt>.html<\/tt>, it seems there&#8217;s no conflict between a WordPress &#8220;Permalink&#8221; like <a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/09\/blogger-import-or-maintaining-old-blog-urls\/\">\/blog\/2010\/09\/blogger-import-or-maintaining-old-blog-urls<strong>\/<\/strong><\/a> and a Blogger static file like <a href=\"\/blog\/2006\/04\/skiing-salomons-missteps-since-xscream.html\">\/blog\/2006\/04\/skiing-salomons-missteps-since-xscream<strong>.html<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 So all I had to do is add the WordPress script to my blog directory and the new URLs intersperse with the old&#8230; It seems to work!, and it&#8217;s simpler than writing my own mod_rewrite rules to point to a \/blog-old directory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I exported my site from the Blogger console, which produced a big XML file of my site in Atom feed format.\u00a0 Now what?
