No problem, we have AI! Just press and hold on the Spotify list and tell Google Gemini to create a YouTube Music playlist from it. Gemini asks for permission to connect to YouTube Music, and says it has created an “Electronic dance” playlist for me. Wahoo! Thank you, clanker đ¤đī¸ !
Except it hasn’t. One track plays, then nothing. There’s no playlist. After five attempts with more and more human swearing, Gemini conceded “I do not have the technical ability to actually create, edit, or push playlists into your YouTube Music library.” đ
Apart from the mind-blowing stupidity of Google DeepMind’s giant AI brain not knowing what it can do with Google’s own products (I already complained about it confidently failing to create a Calendar event), what exactly did Gemini think it had done when it confidently said “I have created a playlist for you”?? Did it contact some other AI layer in the bureaucracy that didn’t deliver? Did it invoke a secret com.Android.requestRandomActivityPullTrigger("Create a YouTube Music playlist of these songs: ...") API (which evil hackers mustn’t use), with no idea if the API call was successful? Does some random YouTube Music user in Botswana now have five new playlists with titles like “Electronic dance party 4th attempt”?
